Want An African Safari Where You Won't Eat Dust?

Have you dreamed of visiting Africa?

AMA Waterways has developed three magnificent ways to exceed your wildest imaginings.

Being one of the world's premier river cruise lines, it's not surprising that AMA Waterways would have a remarkable river cruise at the heart of their Africa vacations, which is accomplished through a charter program with Zambezi River Queen, a ship whose unremarkable exterior belies a luxurious interior that houses 14 Suites along with inviting public spaces.

These safari sojourns are not for everyone, because frankly most people can't afford to spend more than $10,000 per person for a vacation.  The Zambezi Queen holds only 28 guests, with a crew numbering 22.  Gourmet dining with unlimited beer and wine at lunch and dinner while gliding on a river certainly beats  K-rations on a dusty trail, but it is the choice of three extensions to this four night cruise that complete the African experience.

The river cruise is not the end of the experience.  It is extended on each side by two more outstanding destinations, also essentially all-inclusive like the cruise safari.

Waterways of Africa begins with three nights in Cape Town, South Africa, frequently named one of the top travel destinations in the world in its own right.  You'll stay at a luxurious hotel in the world at the base of Table Mountain, which you'll have a chance to visit by Cableway during your stay.  Another day you'll visit gorgeous South African wine country, and on the third day you'll visit the Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach.

Then, you fly to Johannesburg to be shuttled to your Zambezi Queen river safari.

After the four night cruise, you'll spend three nights at Victoria Falls, staying at the Elephant Camp, where you'll be staying in plush accommodations within a wildlife sanctuary.  Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World for good reason.

As my wife said after attending a special presentation by AMA Waterways with me, "Africa wasn't on my bucket list, but it is now."

How about you?

If like me you love the concept of visiting Africa but can't quite justify paying the price of a new Ford for ultimate luxury, keep in mind other possibilities, like Gate 1's 12 Day Classic South Africa at under $3,000 per person, including air from New York.
