Travel Tips From the Seven Dwarfs: Sleepy

If you snooze, you lose.

Need I say more?

Probably not, but of course I will.

Funny how much easier it is to wake in paradise.
While you might have trouble getting the typical Type A person to take time away from his busy schedule to board a cruise, Sleepy would have trouble waking up in time to get on the ship.  And most likely he never would have actually gotten around to booking a cruise despite the fact, as I frequently say (paraphrasing Robert Ringer), the deal of a lifetime comes around about once a week...even more on a particularly good week.

While Sleepy from the Seven Dwarfs might miss it because he would literally be snoozing, many miss the boat because they procrastinate, hoping that the perfect will appear in place of the practical or excellent.

Most of us have vacation schedules, financial constraints and other life exigencies which must be considered when booking a cruise.

Our hearts may cry out for a 3-month world cruise, but 4 nights to Ensenada and Santa Barbara from L.A. might be the practical choice at this immediate stage of our lives.

Having made that decision, as a fully awake individual, you of course contact Wes@CruisePlanners1.com to be guided to the perfect cruise for your next great vacation, right?

You learn exactly what might be available for the week you want to travel and whether it is a good time to book.  Perhaps you discover that for the particular week you can lock vacation days away from work there is not a 4 night cruise that visits Santa Barbara, but there is a 7 night cruise that's still in your practical budget.  Or maybe you can go back to your boss and see about taking off different days to snag a lower price. When you find the deal that will work, you lock it in and eventually find yourself enjoying a great trip.

Then again, some less cognizant dreamer will stubbornly wait for an improbable deal to become available for exactly the right week, metaphorically snoozing through his window of opportunity.

If you find yourself in the former group, booked and now embarking on a wonderful voyage, you can relax and enjoy the trip, but don't sleep your vacation away.

Sleepy might find many good reasons to clutch his pillow and sleep day and night, but he misses the excitement of real life.

Wake up and smell the coffee, which you can get for free at the buffet or for a price similar to Starucks if you opt for an espresso, latte or other gourmet brew at onboard cafes.

That's not to say that you need to get up before the break of dawn like you're in boot camp.  This is your vacation.  Perhaps like my nephew Jered, you're a dancing machine who likes to party in the Disco until it closes, in which case sleeping part of the day away is required to get in your 6 to 8 hours necessary for good health.  Just don't sleep both day and night.

Laying down to read by the pool or on a beach often makes me Sleepy, but a short nap in the afternoon is sufficient to ensure  I can stay awake to enjoy the delicious dinner followed by world class entertainment included for free every evening on cruises.
