The Downside of Cruising

What are the downsides of taking a cruise?

Let me share some confessions from the Travel Industry Association. "An annual vacation can cut a person's risk of heart attack by 50%." This means you'll need to plan on living longer, which you might find stressful, since you'll have a longer future to worry about.

There are other downsides that make avoiding heart attacks seem less troubling. "Blood pressure, heart rate and levels of epinephrine--a stress hormone--decline on holidays of only one or two days."

What are the upsides?

"Travelers experience a 25 percent increase in performance on vigilance tests after returning from vacation. Travelers 45 or older show a 50 percent increase in performance."

And the upsides start as soon as you plan your trip. "Even the anticipation of vacation travel generates an increase in positive feelings about one's life as a whole, plus family, economic situation and health."

There are many more upsides, but you already know that.
