Washington, D.C.: July 4, 2000

In 2000, we attended one of the all time best 4th of July celebrations of my life. In the course of visiting great historic cities and seeing some of the wonderful artifacts of our country, we attended the spectacular fireworks extravaganza in the grassy National Mall of Washington, D.C., along with several thousand other proud Americans.

Visiting the White House, Washington Monument, Smithsonian Institute, Lincoln Memorial and other sites in our nation's capital gives you a greater sense of our history and what it means to be an American. I couldn't find any pictures of our visit to Washington, D.C., but I still have the t-shirt I bought there, and I have worn it on every 4th of July since then.
