Cruising From New York City: July, 2000

Cruising from New York City gives travelers the opportunity to explore the Big Apple before boarding their cruise. When we looked at the Twin Towers back in 2000, we had no idea that a little over a year later, Islamo-fascists would attack our country at this remarkable site.

There was, however, no foreshadow of tragedy during our happy tour of New York City. We went to the top of the Empire State Building and visited the Stature of Liberty. Amy in particular loved the tall buildings she had seen in movies.

Cruising from New York City gave us the opportunity to view many landmarks from a different perspective. I personally like the panoramic views from the sea better than being in the city.

We were bound for Bermuda on this cruise. Back in 2000, cruising from New York was almost exclusively to Bermuda in the summer, Canada/New England in the fall and transatlantic sailings. How things have changed as cruise lines have expanded in an effort to make cruising more convenient. Now, Eastern Seaboarders and people who want to combine an East Coast visit with a cruise can choose among fantastic ships visiting the Caribbean, Bahamas and other destinations year round from New York.
