Sum some summer...

"The indispensable first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: decide what you want."

--- Ben Stein

Summer is right around the corner. Are you ready to make the most of it?

If you take the average human life expectancy and subtract your age, that's about how many summers you probably have left on this garden planet.

Last night, I learned my 80 year-old mother-in-law was sent from her retirement home back to the hospital. What do you think she would give to be physically healthy enough to walk around Greece or snorkel in Bora Bora? She would love to be able to board a cruise ship and enjoy the views of the Inside Passage or Norwegian Fjords.

This summer, go somewhere you've always dreamed of visiting, and go in a style that your spirit can fully appreciate. Most of us can't afford to be on vacation all summer, but we can certainly afford to take a week or two away from the daily grind during those magical sunny days. Just making plans for a vacation liberates our spirits! Sharing our excitement with others brightens their days, too.

It's amazing how talk of travel plans can positively charge the atmosphere. Whether you want a tropical escape to Hawaii, Polynesia or the Caribbean, cruises offer one of the best ways to enjoy fun in the sun. If you've dreamed of Alaska, what's holding you back? Europe also beckons with terrific cruise itineraries.

Cruises allow you to explore the world but return back to the comfortable floating resort each evening. More significantly, to fully appreciate the beauty of Bora Bora or the Inside Passage, a sea approach is essential, or you literally may not see the forest for the trees.

Often I hear people say they simply don't have time for a vacation. Here are some interesting statistics I found in "Travel Mole": "Each US adult worker leaves an average of three vacation days on the table. Nearly a third of Americans reported they do not always take all of their vacation days."

When are you at your best at work and home? When you're stressed and tired or rested and rejuvenated? Don't miss the adventure of your life.
