Second Formal Night on Emerald Princess

A Baltic cruise is obviously far different from a warm water cruise in the Caribbean or Mexico. Whereas on the latter, we have plenty of time to relax in the sand and sun, usually more concerned with simple pleasures than history, in the Baltic we found the layers of history almost overwhelming, not to mention all the beautiful sites. Today Jay shared this video from “Ukraine’s Got Talent,” of all places, which does a good job of conveying what I often felt.

As I mentioned previously, we had only one full sea day, and that came on our first day, helping those who might have arrived with jetlag. Our short day in Estonia, however, allowed us to enjoy a little down time on the ship, and we were ready for it.

I remember a delicious barbecue beef sandwich in the formal dining room, and Gina gave me a bite of her excellent hamburger. After lunch, the afternoon slipped away without accomplishing much more than a dip in the pool. We were happy it was warm enough to get use out of the swimming pools and lounge chairs, which was unexpected in Northern Europe.

This was the second formal night, so lots of people undoubtedly took advantage of spa services to prepare for the big night. Everyone looked very nice for the occasion. The lobster tail with melted butter was very good.

The production show, “I Got the Music,” was great, although it seemed like the singers might still be getting used to working together. The unusually beautiful dancers were terrific as usual. The show was based on music of several people, including Barbra Streisand, Britney Spears and Tom Jones, which might not seem to be promising in concept, but I personally really enjoyed it.
