Ten Chapters In France

Our Viking River Cruise to Lyon and Provence proved to be easy as promised.

After a delicious breakfast on our final morning,  we boarded a roomy shuttle to the airport with another couple.  The flight home proved uneventful.

The overall river cruise was not deeply immersive into a vein of the region's history, as I felt on both Uniworld and Ama Waterways, though perhaps that comes down to itinerary rather than cruise line.

We did feel immersed in key elements of Provençal culture, in particular fine dining with free-flowing local wine.  Taking time to fully appreciate meals is paramount in Provence.  It's not hard to understand why French citizens pushed for 36-hour workweeks with long lunch breaks to savor delicious cuisine accompanied by wine.

As for Julie and me, our cruise on the Rhone aboard Viking Delling proved to be a relaxing, enjoyable trip, and looking back at it, we experienced a wide array of excursions that made each port unique and pleasurable in their own ways.
