Cruising From Brooklyn

If you always use cruise line transfers, then you need not be concerned about exactly how you will get to the port in Brooklyn, and you can simply enjoy the lovely views of your sailaway.

Staying in Manhattan on the night before the cruise without pre-purchased transfers can obviously be resolved by calling a taxi, but we rarely do something that easy.

In order to cut the risk of being stuck in Manhattan traffic with the taxi meter running like our national debt, we took the subway to Brooklyn for the standard fare of $2.75 per person.

Stepping above ground in Brooklyn, we found ourselves in a very cool neighborhood, which might be a great place to spend the night before your cruise from Brooklyn, but we also weren't sure which direction was which.
However, that's what taxis are for.  I stuck out my hand, and a cab driver pulled over.

It turns out the taxi had been heading in the opposite direction of the pier, but he soon pulled a u-turn, got off the congested street and had us to the pier for a cab fare of a little over $11.

One thing is clear.  Cruising from Brooklyn is a beautiful way to start a vacation in New England and Canada.

We enjoyed the illuminated skyline of our night time departure from Brooklyn from our usual sail away perch in Skywalker's Lounge, hidden on the 18th Floor of Caribbean Princess.  Taking pictures through the reflective glass simply didn't do the experience justice, so you'll have to go experience it for yourself.
