Planning Travel In These Golden Years?

A good captain reaches his destination because he knows where he's going and makes corrections along the way.

Similarly, successful people plan their lives and take positive actions to reach their objectives.

Things may not turn out exactly as we planned, but they always turn out better than doing nothing or taking negative actions.

Sometimes when we take positive action toward our goals, things serendipitously turn out better than our grandest plans.

Working toward goals works so well that successful people tend to apply this technique to every aspect of their lives, including travel.

It might pay to go off plan occasionally, or maybe I should say to reassess our goals in light of a new reality of the moment.

Yes, cruising the Canary Islands or Danube River may top your bucket list, but finding that exact dream vacation on sale at a price similar to other vacations you remember seeing at one time simply might never happen, no matter how often you check promotions.

That can be frustrating, but it's not the end of the world.

Maybe you need to move your goalposts by either upwardly adjusting the amount you're willing to spend or latterally adjusting your time frame.

However, if you've dreamt of a cruise to the Greek Isles or somewhere else in Europe at "affordable" rates, your lucky day has arrived!

Why?

Because many people just like you have been waiting their entire lives for deals available now but have allowed the news to scare them off considering a cruise in Europe.

Could you be tempted to allay your fears by a 7-night cruise roundtrip from Rome, Venice or Barcelona, including air from major US airport cities like LAX, MIA and ORD, one night pre-cruise hotel, and all necessary transfers for only $1999?  Oh, did I forget to mention that includes free drinks and 250 minutes of free internet or some other amenities of your choice?

How about eleven nights from Barcelona to Athens on one of the best large cruise ships in the world for $699 per person?

As always happens, some will look back at these golden opportunities and later vow they'll go the next time the deals come around.

I've learned to never say never, because anything is possible, but I can further say I don't remember so many great deals in Europe in the prime travel period between May and October.

Is there reason for concern when traveling to Europe?

We should always use caution when we travel, vigilantly aware of our surroundings, but when Julie and I took advantage of unprecedented low prices for a Holy Lands cruise last fall, ignoring similar concerns, we enjoyed a wonderful trip.

Not all cruises in Europe have the same discounts available, and the destination or cruise ship at the top of your bucket list may not be among those cruises on sale, but serendipity awaits.

If you're waiting for a time without uncertainty, don't hold your breath.

Better service leads to better trips!
