As you probably know by now, travel specials arrive on my virtual desk daily. You probably receive quite a few from cruise lines and land pacakgers yourself, and perhaps you think I'm giving your e-mail address out. I don't. That's just their marketing robots. However, generally any promotion you receive from them, I can get for you too, and hopefully you will appreciate having a friend in the travel industry to help stear you to the correct decisions.
I've found that sending out promotions does little good. Last minute deals come too late for people to re-schedule their lives, and sending out promotion after promotion just muddies the water.
Regardless, I thought I would mention a couple of exraordinary deals available right now that might interest some of you.
Queen Victoria is an elegant ship that harkens back the golden age of transatlantic crossings, like the Titanic but without the sinking part. Cunard rarely brings her ships to the west coast, and even more rarely puts them on short itineraries. However, on February 13, she will be doing a four night cruise from Los Angeles to Ensenada. The primary destination, however, is not Ensenada, but the onboard experience. I have a limited number of balcony guarantees for just $499 per person. Because this goes roundtrip from Los Angeles, it won't require air for Southern Californians who happen to have some free time right now.
A second great deal that just became available is for Kids Sail Free in Alaska on Disney Wonder for selected sailings (May 3 through June 7). This is a terrific promotion for families, including Baby Boomers who want to return to Alaska and would love to show their grandchildren (can you believe people our age can be grandparents?) the wonders of our most northern state.
In addition, for a few more months we have several ships in the area doing the Mexican Riviera, including Norwegian Star, a great ship with an international theme that continues to regularly deliver terrific pricing.
