It was intermittently sunny on our first couple of days in Montana, but we kept forgetting to bring our disposable camera with us. For serious skiers, of course, fresh snow is always welcome, and a storm came through over then next few days, improving the ski run conditions. The temperature didn't drop below zero, and bundled up we weren't freezing.
Additionally, most of the lifts had
"bubbles" that fold down and make the mile or so ride up the mountain on lifts much more comfortable. There were no lift lines, so we would let an open chair go by so that we could take a bubble, which inevitably came up next.
Wife Julie and youngest daughter Amy flew up to join us on our second day skiing, and Amy became my Cocoa Buddy. She and I would take one warming break each day for a combination of hot cocoa and coffee in one of the gorgeous rustic lodges. My sister created a gourmet feast for lunch each day, so we all enjoyed a break of an hour or so at lunch time. Despite our breaks, we got in more runs each day than we could get in three days on a California mountain.
