Molikini Sail and Snorkel: February, 2001

On Monday morning, I went to the store to get donuts for breakfast and also brought back way too much ice cream and soda for the amount of time we had left.

We drove to Waielea to see the area after breakfast, but all too soon we ran out of time, since we had reservations to go to Molikini on the Frogman II. We had lunch at the Carl’s Jr. at the Maalena harbor before sailing to Molikini.

It was a fantastic trip. We sighted many whales from the time we were waiting to board through the entire sail out and back on the 55-foot power catamaran. At Molikini, the water was Wyland blue, and the fish were calm and beautiful. We saw a great eel that looked like an underwater diamond back snake. About halfway through our time at Molikini, most of the kids decided to spend the rest of their time on the slide into the ocean off the back of the Frogman II. At the very end of snorkeling time, we saw a six foot long white tip shark. At the risk of repeating myself, it was a fantastic trip.

For dinner, we went back to the Lahaina Cannery mall food court for a variety of foods. I was extremely happy with the Hawaiian Chicken I got at Edo’s’ Teppanyaki. It was delicious and filling. Ice cream and “I Doubt It” in the room made for another joyous night.
