Grants Pass Lodging: August, 2005

Located on the outskirts of Grants Pass, Weasku Inn was named by "Travel and Leisure" as one of the "Top 25 American Lodges," but it's not expensive or fancy. It's homey. The main building of Weasku Inn is a log cabin of sorts, with a large porch off the back where we enjoyed quiet times drinking coffee in the morning or playing cards in the afternoon.

Games are important to our family. We play to win but never at the expense of fun, or at least that's my interpretation of it. The bottom floor features a parlor perfect for playing games in the evening, and the fact that they serve cookies for a night-night treat suits us to a tee. We enjoyed some fun evenings playing games and eating cookies at this home away from home. The bottom floor also features a breakfast room, where we enjoyed the simple breakfasts.

Gina and Laszlo stayed in one of the guest rooms upstairs, just like Clark Gable and Carol Lombard. In fact, I think they stayed in the exact room the stars did. The rooms are comfortably decorated, each with a unique design.

Amy, Julie and I stayed in an annex of River Cabins, which are more like condos looking out over a creek and into the woods. One morning from our porch we saw a large bobcat that was all white. I don't know what the species was, but it was about two or three times the size of a house cat and powerfully built.
