Cliffs of Moher: February, 2002

The Cliffs of Moher rise dramatically from the Atlantic Ocean.

The views and thunderous roar of the ocean are remarkable. The Cliffs of Insanity in one of my family's favorite movies, "The Princess Bride," are actually the Cliffs of Moher.

A short drive from the cliffs is Doolin. At the heart of this quaint village is Gus O'connor's Pub, a magnet for lovers of traditional Irish music. We enjoyed a few rousing tunes with a light meal, and staying overnight in the area would undoubtedly be fun, but we needed to fly out the next day from Shannon, and so elected not to get the lion's share of the driving out of the way before turning in for the evening. Besides, we had more of County Clare to see.
